We have been looking at ways to provide additional added value to you - for example, our recent introduction of a PI scheme. Relationships with providers also generate much needed further income to the IFAA to enable us to be even more effective in our lobbying, research and representation.
Like you, we are very keen on consumer education. Recently we were approached by Henwick Park on behalf of top selling finance author Mr Andrew Craig who asked whether we would be interested in promoting his VT PEF Global Multi Asset Fund. What particularly attracted us to this opportunity was Andrew’s campaign for ‘plain English finance’ which is I am sure also dear to your hearts.
Andrew Craig is particularly engaged in trying to address the lack of financial awareness in the population at large. To that end he established Plain English Finance www.plainenglishfinance.co.uk and has written or contributed to a number of excellent books on this subject. On the back of this initiative he set out to design a fund offering that could be used with confidence by anyone and was compatible with the Plain English Finance aims and objectives.
Introducing the VT PEF Global Multi Asset Fund to IFAA Members
We have now teamed up with Henwick Park who represent a number of funds and also provide other services in the IFA/Wealth Management sector. Henwick Park are marketing Andrew’s Plain English Finance VT PEF Global Multi Asset fund. VT (Valu-Trac) are investment managers in their own right https://www.valu-trac.com/.
The fund is run by Andrew, and industry veteran Roderick Collins, with technical input in respect of strategy and asset allocation from Professors Andrew Clare and Steve Thomas of the Cass Business School.
We believe the fund is highly differentiated and could be particularly attractive in the current interest rate and equity market environment. It uses the combination of true diversification (by asset and by geography) - and basic trend following. Downside protection is the product’s number one focus and Andrew feels the fund may well be of interest to those clients close to and post retirement and who have most to lose in a large market downturn. He also feels it might also be a valuable stable option as part of a client’s overall portfolio to balance the higher risk/higher reward fund options.
